Scanner HELP! @_@ EDIT

*EDIT - So I got back from class about 45mins ago, and I have good news! After beating the scanner and cussing it out, it decided to work!

I couldn't believe it. The thing's been acting totally posessed since I got it but for once it did what I asked it! NO FREAKIN WAY. Now I credit some of the cursing (for some reason I have to insult my electronics before they want to work) but I also tried a different program. Instead of using one of the HP programs, I opened up Image Capture, and that did it! YAY. I can scan my pics now and get them colored.

I love the irony here, it works AFTER I tell everyone what a horrible mean printer it's been to me. LOL

Just a quick journal to see if anyone might be able to help me. I have an HP Printer/Fax/Scanner that I synced with my Macbook Pro. It prints and copies just fine when I hook it up to the Mac (via USB), but every time I ask it to scan it gets stupid on me. I press the scan button and it starts to go, then it says error. It won't tell me what the problem is though, so I have no idea how to fix it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software but that didn't change anything.

Any idea what's going on with the scanner? I'd love some suggestions/advice as to how I fix the problem. I've got at least three sketches I'd like to get scanned so I could COLOR them, but the scanner is being a buttface.

Please leave a comment if you have any idea what's going on here.

Do you have a paint program that you can use to access the scanner function instead of using the scanner button itself?

Ohh!!!!!!! Yes, I have the EXACT problem you do. I have a mac and an HP printer/scanner thingamabob. Mine doesn't work either. So what I do instead is:

1. Do not scan to the computer.
2. Unhook the printer from the computer.
3. If you have a camera memory card, plug it in to the printer. Or a flashdrive if you can.
4. Scan the drawing to the memory card.
5. After scanning, plug the printer back into the computer.
6. The memory card will show up with the scanned picture inside.

I had a HECK of a time figuring all this out.
